Radar_Lab

By Merlyn Perez-Silva

Radar is thrilled to present a series of Radar_LAB events during this weekend’s SPOT festival. One of the most exciting weekends in Aarhus’ musical calendar, we’re looking forward to adding some new flavours to the festival, and representing some niche artists and performers. This Friday and Saturday, we will be taking over the Aarhus2017 glass container to provide a stage for performances and artist talks.

First up, on Friday between 14:00 and 21:00 we will be presenting a program of multi-channel concerts by composers from the Danish Institute of Electronic Music (DIEM). Presenting music across many speakers has been ‘a thing’ since the advent of electronic music, however multichannel work has seen a resurgence in recent years, with advances in technology allowing for cutting-edge projects from the art gallery to the dancefloor. Our Friday program allows you to peek in to this exciting new sonic frontier, and experience the different ways musicians and artists factor notions of ‘space’, ‘movement’ and ‘room’ into their compositions.

Saturday welcomes a broad and fascinating lineup of artist talks and presentations to the Radar_Lab container. A hand-picked selection of musicians, academics and practitioners from the Aarhus scene will be guiding you through examples of their work, process and research, in turn contemplating the nature of listening, performance and media. Also between the hours of 14:00 and 21:00, we hope to provide an interesting yet approachable alternative to the many hundreds of fantastic concerts happening at SPOT.

Throughout the weekend, we’re happy to be joined by our friends at Sigfreds Kaffefabrik, ensuring a tasty kick of caffeine as you meander around Godsbanen and beyond. We’re looking forward to seeing you there!
