RAMA Students Present Interactive Installations

Exhibition Opening/Artist Talk June 4, 18.30

Experience the two interactive installations Mors Grill and Will We Ever Achieve Inner Silence Again at Radar by electronic composition students from The Royal Academy of Music.

Will We Ever Achieve Inner Silence Again?
The installation reflects on the soundscape of the modern world, where moments of silence have disappeared. The work focuses on examining the soundscape that spreads around us, which is constantly reshaped as an echo in our minds even in those moments when we achieve apparent silence.

The work considers whether we can find inner silence anymore, or does the constant noise of the world and the mixed fabric of speech echo in our minds? How valuable is mental silence in the end, and how much does it help us recover? The work is programmed with Max and its audio material consists of real-time recordings of the audience and the room.

Mors Grill
Grill + Spiders + Electronix + Expertise
This installation invites you to a grill party in the bathroom! Here, the students ask for your help in feeding our electronic spiders and guiding them toward the light of day. They rarely see the sun, but when they do, they might make a sound. Don’t worry—they don’t bite.'

This piece was created by the grill engineers of the Nægtularus Saurus Rex Academy of Juttson Island, who have spent countless days, hours, and seconds perfecting the ultimate sonic grill-space. We would like to dedicate this to all the insects of the world who have yet to attend a grill party.

Please don’t bring edible sausages - but do feel free to play with the insects!

By Dalin Waldo and Christian Høgh.

The installations are part of a three weeks ALF-Residency where Aarhus Lydforening, in collaboration with Radar and Strøm, aims to exchange knowledge, promote sustainability, connect generations, and strengthen the electronic music community in Aarhus and across Denmark. During a three-week residency at Radar, we will explore spatial music, multichannel audio, and tape machines.

Activities are supported by:
